Last Sunday, the painter Caroline Jacques drew the winner of her painting "Survol des Jardins de Métis" at the ERE 132 Eco home along with Garden's director Alexander Reford.
Eastern Quebec's greenest house – ERE132 – is living up to its title as a Centre for Excellence in Green Building. The house is being used as a living laboratory by the 24 students enrolled in the architecture technology program at the Cégep de Rimouski. It is both an inspiration and a laboratory of a built project for the students' final year competition.
Les Jardins de Métis / Reford Gardens want to thank all the visitors from the region who made the Open House at the ERE132 a successful event. More than one hundred people came throughout the day, exceeding our expectations. Most were first time visitors to the house and came from the region. We noticed a marked interest for green building. Many had a renovation or construction project in mind and came to find inspiration and advice at ERE 132. Ecohome.net co-founder and director Emmanuel Cosgrove was on hand Friday to officially present the LEED Platinum certificate for the house. He generously gave his time with visitors who were pleased to be able to discuss green building with him and benefit from his vast knowledge.
ERE 132, the Centre for Excellence at the Reford Gardens / Jardins de Métis, is holding an open house to celebrate the recognition of the ecological house as a LEED Platinum residential building, the unveiling of the new work of art, "Faire croître", by sculptor Jean-Philippe Roy, and to launch the new digital platform, "ERE 132: Building is choosing" developed by a team from the CDRIN (Centre de développement et de recherche en imagerie numérique) in Matane.
ERE 132 is being offered for short-term stays from the beginning of October until the end of May. Experience living in a super green house – certified LEED Platinum - and take part in monitoring its energy performance. The greenest house can accommodate up to 6 guests in three rooms (queen bed, double bed and 2 bunk beds). You also enjoy privileged access to Les Jardins de Métis / Reford Gardens and its pathways.
Under a dazzling sun, a hundred or so people gathered on the site of the Reford Gardens to participate in the inauguration of the ERE 132 Eco Home. Many of the 78 project partners were there. All expressed - by their oohs and aahs and cheers - their utter joy. Proud of these reactions and of the work done, the project developers were on cloud nine; the designers were over the moon. On site, chef Pierre-Olivier Ferry and his team inaugurated the kitchen area in splendid fashion, to the delight of our guests.
